Last to board: why travel may be AI’s final frontier
Only 2% of travel executives say agentic AI is widely deployed, according to McKinsey. In a Tech in Asia feature run by The Business Times, Igloo Co-Founder and CEO Raunak Mehta said AI agents need inventory, pricing and policies in formats they can read before they work reliably across travel. “Not every hotel booking, not every flight booking, tends to have the same terms and conditions associated,” he said.
Beyond servers: Malaysia targets bigger share of AI economy
Malaysia is chasing a bigger share of the AI supply chain beyond its data centres, from chips and cooling to specialised hardware. The Business Times feature included nanoSkunkWorkX Co-Founder and CEO Iqbal Shamsul, whose company is developing a thin-film interface to manage heat and current in AI chip packaging. He said: “The gap is how quickly we can connect research, industry, qualification and capital to turn an invention into a global manufacturing process.”

The umbrella delayed-drawdown structure sets pre-negotiated terms so Timah can finance multiple deals over time. Founder and CEO Dennis Chua said what founders selling their companies prefer is “clarity, a straightforward and simple process, partners they can trust and are proud to be associated with”.
‘You need to have great barriers to entry’: More VC firms expand into deep tech as AI reshapes startup investing

Tin Men Capital Co-Founder and Managing Partner Murli Ravi told The Business Times the firm has extended further into frontier tech, backing Pints AI and Tau, and that founders will now avoid investors who do not understand the science. “There are opportunities for folks who have been consistent,” he said.
Who captures the value in Singapore’s S$37 billion frontier tech bet?
Jeremy Tan, Co-Founder of Tin Men Capital, authored an op-ed in The Business Times arguing that the enterprise value from the world's US$2.5 trillion AI infrastructure buildout will accrue to the workflow-embedded, vertically specialised companies that close the industry's deployment gap. The op-ed set out Tin Men’s three-layer framework for frontier tech, the fragmentation thesis behind why value will be captured in "uncountable large niches" rather than a few horizontal platforms, and why Singapore's full-stack frontier technology position makes it the natural anchor for a structurally resetting Southeast Asian venture market.
How will the EV journey in South-east Asia unfold?

Stablecoins are challenging Asia’s financial order
And for Singapore-based StraitsX, its local currency token presents opportunities to optimise payments made to merchants in the Republic.
Its XSGD token, which trades on Coinbase, is the only Singapore dollar-backed stablecoin to date that has been deemed "substantively compliant" with the Monetary Authority of Singapore's (MAS) single-currency regulatory structure, which was finalised in 2023.
